The wedding veil is simply among the most popular wedding traditions particularly from the side of bride. It is based on the tradition of olden days where the bride showing her face to groom before wedding was not considered good. A marriage veil is so used to keep the bride’s face covered. The veil is also considered to offer protection to the bride from malicious spirits.

White is one of the hottest color for the bridal dresses. This wedding tradition gathered popularity when Queen Victoria chose to wear white on her D day. Also, it is believed that a woman who chooses to wear white on her wedding day is selecting the right man. Colors like red, yellow, pearl, black and grey aren’t considered auspicious for wedding gowns.

The following in line, very common wedding custom is throwing rice. This convention involves throwing of rice on the couple tied in matrimony. It’s been a common practice for quite some time now and is still going very strong as a custom. This convention employs rice because rice is known as a symbol of fertility and prosperity as it grows in massive quantities. So rice is thrown on the couple so the same prosperity can reflect in their wedded life.

Another very famous wedding tradition is to position the bride on the left side of the groom. This ritual has been conscientiously followed since ages. In the earlier times there was a presumption that the envious suitors won’t miss on any chance of taking away the girl to be married. To avoid such a situation it was a ritual to put the bride on the left side of the groom. Also the bride’s hand was tied to the left hand of the groom. This ensured that the right hand of the groom stayed free. This was to ensure that the groom will effectively fight against any untoward happening as created by the envious suitors.

One of the most common and popular marriage custom is the wedding kiss. The wedding kiss did not evolve as an effect of some creative imagination. Instead, this wedding convention goes back to the Roman times. The kiss was assumed to be a symbol of the legal sealing of the wedding.For for the wedding to be considered legal, it was important that a third person witness the kiss.

Last but not the least ; an extremely common and famous marriage custom is to hold the bridal bouquets. It is a general perception that bridal bouquet is solely to up the glam quotient of the bridal wear. However, this tradition has more to it. The traditional significance of the bridal bouquets is that it aims to forestall the bride from any unfavourable omens and influences. It is for that reason that many a times many herbs were placed in the bridal bouquet so as to ward away the negative forces around. In addition flowers were selected in accordance to the meaning they symbolized.
